“SAMA-SAMA Fun Run: Padagan para sa Kinaiyahan 2024”

Assumption College of Davao held the Sama-Sama Fun Run on April 14, 2024, with the theme “Padagan para sa Kinaiyahan” with a focus on caring for nature, which was a deeply enriching experience that resonated with my personal values and beliefs. As I joined my family in the run, I felt a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility toward preserving Mother Earth for future generations. The event was not only an opportunity to engage in physical activity and spend quality time with family and loved ones but also a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness between humans and the environment.

As we ran through highways along Cabagiuo and JP Laurel Avenue with vehicles passing by that emitted carbon waste through their mufflers, I was struck by the importance of protecting and nurturing the natural world that sustains us all. I felt the urgency to educate more, to plant more trees, and to do something more than manage our waste. I felt the need for a change of views, of ways of doing things, and of ways of living. Each step taken during the run felt like a commitment to environmental stewardship, a pledge to do my part in caring for the delicate balance of ecosystems. After the race and while the program was going on, the organizers thoughtfully incorporated educational videos highlighting environmental issues and offering practical tips for sustainable living.

It was inspiring to see how the event seamlessly blended fitness and advocacy, empowering participants to make a positive impact on the planet. Crossing the finish line was not just a personal achievement but a symbolic triumph for our collaborative efforts to care for nature. The sense of community and shared purpose among participants underscored the importance of coming together to address environmental challenges and advocate for change.

Reflecting on the Family Fun Run for Nature Conservation, I am reminded of the power of collective action and the profound impact that small steps can have in safeguarding the Earth. Moving forward, I am committed to integrating more environmentally conscious practices into my daily life and continuing to support initiatives that promote the health and well-being of our natural world.
