In a two-day Strategic and Planning (SAP) and Road Mapping event on November 4 and 5, 2024, the Assumption College of Davao (ACD) gathered its community to embark on a journey of introspection, vision, and planning for the institution’s future. Under the skilled guidance of Dr. Rey Cuizon, a facilitator with extensive experience in strategic development, this gathering united all members of the ACD community in a rare opportunity for deep reflection and forward thinking.
The event began by revisiting the institution’s very foundation. Dr. Cuizon led the community through a comprehensive assessment of ACD’s current standing, vision, mission, and core goals. A recurring question shaped the discussions: Does ACD’s mission still resonate in today’s world, and how can it better serve the evolving needs of the community? This exercise, grounded in purpose, allowed the community to reevaluate and refine its collective mission in an ever-changing educational landscape.
To ensure an inclusive and representative dialogue, participants were organized into focused sub-groups: the Basic Education Department (BED) for Elementary and Junior High School including the Lumad Extension School, Senior High School, the College Department, Non-Teaching Personnel, the Management Council, and the Missionary Sisters along with Office Heads. Within these diverse groups, members shared insights and perspectives, creating a rich tapestry of experiences and viewpoints, all driven by a singular purpose: to create a stronger, more unified institution.
Amidst the structured planning, participants were posed with profound questions that struck at the heart of ACD’s identity: “Who is ACD? What is the culture of ACD? Why does ACD exist?” These questions encouraged introspection and invited each member of the community to look beyond roles and titles and into the essence of the institution itself. The discussions that followed were not merely intellectual exercises; they were emotionally resonant exchanges that unified the participants in their shared commitment to ACD’s mission.
Dr. Cuizon emphasized that this journey is not without challenges. Obstacles would mark the road ahead, but he encouraged everyone to keep in mind the essence of ACD’s existence—that in every action, in every decision, the ultimate purpose is to serve others. This spirit of selflessness and dedication to the greater good emerged as the guiding force that would propel ACD forward.
As the two-day session drew to a close, the participants felt a palpable sense of achievement and renewed motivation. Yet, as Dr. Cuizon reminded everyone, this was not the final destination. This gathering marked only the beginning of an ongoing journey of growth, adaptation, and commitment to ACD’s foundational values. Plans are already in place for further plenary sessions, where the community will continue to align on goals and strategies, ensuring that ACD’s legacy as a mission school remains vibrant and impactful.
The Strategic and Planning (SAP) and Road Mapping 2024 event was a resounding success, igniting a flame of shared purpose and reaffirming the Assumption College of Davao’s dedication to creating meaningful change. In a world that often emphasizes individual success, ACD’s community stands out for embodying a deeper commitment to glorification: honoring the school’s mission and vision by striving not just for personal achievement but for a legacy of service that uplifts others and brings meaning and purpose to the entire ACD community.
