Collaborative Tree-Planting and Coastal Clean-up Activity of the ACD Senior Scouts and ACD Girl Scouts

In an effort to stay true to their commitment to environmental stewardship, the scouting organizations of the Assumption College of Davao conducted a tree-planting activity, along with a coastal clean-up activity, last August 24, 2024, at Bunawan, Davao City. This activity aims to help restore the beauty of the area and demonstrate a way to care for our common home, in line with Pope Francis’s mission, ‘Laudato Si.’

While in the area, the scouts also conducted a coastal-clean up before proceeding to the tree-planting proper, clearing out the waste located around the shore. The scouts collected the trash hand-in-hand, helping each other, and disposed of it properly. Afterward, the scouts worked together in planting a hundred mangrove trees, showcasing their teamwork and passion for helping Mother Nature. The scouts also made a makeshift bridge for the residents living near the area, showcasing their handiness and quick-thinking skills. Aside from that, they also found time to admire the ocean and sang together, showing the bonds built between every one of them.

The activities carried out by the scouts were a testament to the transformative education provided by the school. This education, which goes beyond the four walls of the classroom, inspires students to strive for more in their efforts for the environment and supports their sustainable development goals. It’s a source of pride for the school community and a reason for everyone to support these initiatives.
