The Gender and Development (GAD) Focal System of Assumption College of Davao conducted its training and re-orientation on gender sensitivity on November 22, 2022. This event is one of the manifestations of the school’s commitment to its advocacy for women.
The speaker was Ms. Lorna B. Mandin, the division head of Davao City Integrated Gender and Development. She anchored her talk to the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (UN- CEDAW), CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2015, and CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2022, among others. She emphasized the vital role of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) in cases of gender-based sexual harassment (GBSH) committed in public spaces, educational or training institutions, workplaces, and online spaces. During the training, the participants went through a story analysis of the alligator story and had a very healthy discussion about GAD in the school’s context and its actual implementation.
Indeed, Assumption College of Davao is committed and dedicated to pursuing its advocacy and thrust on gender and development.
